Hey there, everyone! My name’s Anaum, and I’m a college student who has too much time on her hands. Currently, I’m a junior communication major based in Miami. However, I’m here starting Sirens, Singers, and Mirages because I’m a huge nerd. I’ve been one since I was a child and my parents would watch Star Trek absolutely non-stop. I’m not kidding, they still watch it almost daily. Not only is one of my earliest memories of watching Star Trek: Nemesis, I’m watching Star Trek: Deep Space Nine as I type this (5×26 Call to Arms if anyone’s wondering).
Star Trek is extremely near and dear to my heart, and it’s what led me to be as big of a nerd as I am today. However, it’s not the only thing I enjoy and it’s not the only thing I’ll be writing about! I am obsessed with video games, and as a major Nintendo fan, I have many thoughts on its consoles, games, and other various projects. I stood in line for over an hour in the hot sun to pre-order the Switch 2 at GameStop, and I intend to use it to the fullest! I’m especially obsessed with Japanese Role-Playing Games, or JRPGs for short. Persona and Fire Emblem are my favorite series, and I also love mid-budget JRPGs— especially if they’re by FuRyu. Recently I’ve started playing Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition as well, and I’m having a lot of fun with it!
My most recent obsession has to be Tokusatsu, specifically Super Sentai and by extension Power Rangers. Analyzing the differences and similarities in the adaptation process has been a recent passion of mine, and I especially adore the Disney era of Power Rangers. I’ve personally been annoyed by the sheer bias toward Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers by Saban Brands, so expect at least a slightly larger variety here.
And of course, you can’t live in Miami as a nerd without going to the local cons! I haven’t been going for that long, but Supercon and Otakufest are amazing experiences so close to home. And there are a lot of places to collect nerdy stuff year-round, so let’s just say I have quite a bit of experience with collections. My wallet is crying and my shelves are about to unionize against me with how much I’m making them carry, but I am happy.
That’s pretty much all I’ve got for now! I hope you stick around on my nerdy little corner of the internet and listen to my ramblings, and I hope if you do that you enjoy it! Signing off for now, I’ll see you in the next post!
